Responding to the Call of Nation-building |
|
Although considered as the poorest barangays in the province, 30 homes now stand in GK-Consemino Village. However, more that just houses are needed to create sustainable and viable community. A multi-purpose hall and a Sibol (Preschool) School must also be built. The Kapitbahayan also need to be constantly empowered in their journey out of poverty.
GK-Consemino Village was built through bayanihan: the generosity of partners and the efforts of many youth volunteers from various organizations, as well as the sweat equity of the beneficiaries themselves.

This community is one of the sites for the reconstruction program for the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda. Like the family of Nang Merlinda, there are many more families that need our help. More work needs to be done in order to provide the beneficiaries with a caring community and help them regain some sense of normalcy in their lives. To build a community with GK, click HERE.
