If each of us takes part in caring and sharing, the overwhelming challenge of poverty can be addressed. Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much.
Love Means Walang Iwanan: A Valentine Date with the Kids
[Date Created: February 25, 2015]

Last February 14, over 200 volunteers headed to Gawad Kalinga (GK) communities in Mandaluyong, Taguig, and Davao City to give 200 kids their happiest and most kilig Valentine date yet.

MANDALUYONG

Mandaluyong had the biggest turnout of 100 volunteers to have one-on-one dates with 100 kids from GK Century Properties and surrounding GK Villages. Volunteers got to spend quality time with the children, guiding them in activities like Valentine card making, storytelling, origami, music, dance, and fun games.

Aside from spending time with the kids, some of the volunteers were also able to experience building the homes that some of the kids will eventually move into

TAGUIG

In Taguig, volunteers headed to GK Napindan in Brgy. Napindan, spending their Valentine's Day morning with the kids as well.

DAVAO

Valentine's Day was also sweet for the children up in the mountains of Pueblo Antonio GK Village in Catigan, Toril, Davao City.

Kids get both outdoor and indoor fun as volunteers play parlor games with them and teach them how to make Valentine cards.

It's selfie time! Kids are all smiles as they receive stuffed toys from the volunteers.

Gawad Kalinga is not a charity, rather, it's a nation-building movement that aims to end poverty by building empowered and sustainable communities. Like these volunteers, you too can make children’s hearts happy by spending Saturday morning with them. For the Love Means Walang Iwanan campaign, we’ve lined up Valentine card-making, parlor games in pairs, and of course, lunch to end the date! Check out the main campaign page HERE, or check out what other volunteers have posted.

You can also GIVE NOW directly to the campaign.
