Gawad Kalinga has been actively engaging various barangays in the Philippines through the Barangay Walang Iwanan movement [ www.bwi.ph ], collaborating with local leaders towards uplifting 10,000 barangays out of povert. Barangay Mahanub is one of the barangays that need additional support, especially because their remote location poses an additional challenge for resources to get by. They are addressing several forms of poverty such as iliteracy, hunger, and poor health. Through the Kagitingan to Kalayaan: Musikahan at Bayanihan Benefit Concert on June 12, 2021, we hope to be able to help address these three forms of povert in order to continue the education of the children from the Mamanwa Tribe by building another classroom, providing the students with hygiene kits, and sustaining their feeding program.
