Each one of us is faced with a personal decision that will have an impact on the collective. We can decide that:
The transmission stops with me.
By observing physical distancing, strict personal hygiene and following official government protocols, we can cut the chain. This is probably the greatest act that one can do during this crisis.
Stay at home but help our homeland.
Each family has a duty to contribute to the common good. Make sure that our neighbor who may have difficulty putting food on their table will not go hungry. Contribute to credible groups helping the poor and the frontliners.
Fear is real, but God is with us in this fight.
Faith in God, inspiring hope from each other, love for country will empower us to overcome COVID-19.
Gawad Kalinga is mounting OPERATION “WALANG IWANAN, WALANG HAWAAN” (LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND BUT LEAVE COVID-19 BEHIND). The goal of the campaign is to bring relief and help those in need while managing the transmission of the virus to a minimum (if not zero) in our processes and execution.
COVID-19 is a painful reminder for everyone. Rich, poor, the powerful, the famous, and the ordinary can be infected. We now must go back to that fundamental truth — that all are created equal in worth and dignity in the eyes of God. We have to start relating with each other with this fundamental truth if we want to win this war against COVID-19.
May we find the strength and humility to care and share so that no one amongst us will be left behind nor forgotten!
Mabuhay!
Kuya Luis

Meet the community heroes leading the fight against COVID-19.
Walang Iwanan — I commit to leave no one behind. The COVID-19 has left many families hungry,
challenging the most vulnerable communities. Nanay Marjorie from GK Adlas in Silang, Cavite couldn't
describe how grateful she is for the generous support given to her 10-month-old baby. Big thanks to our
caring responders, to every
GK Kapitbahayan, to our amazing givers. May the pandemic fire up our
compassion to end child hunger.
Una sa Serbisyo, Huli sa Benepisyo — I commit to serve rather than to be served. When you need to find
strength to keep going, remember, you are not alone. Nanay Resurreccion from GK Ligao in Albay has
found hope in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic through the bayanihan of
GK Kapitbahayan.

together. Walang iwanan, walang hawaan!
Team Gawad Kalinga believes that we can send help to vulnerable communities and at the same time cut the
chain of virus transmission by observing physical distancing and following government protocols. Thus, we
launched “walang iwanan, walang hawaan,” our kalinga response to the COVID-19 outbreak that ensures less
contact in conducting relief operations. For urban areas, the mode of relief distribution is through electronic
cash transfers. While limiting physical contact, cash transfers also provide flexibility in terms of usage as the
basic needs of each family may vary from time to time. Designed to augment relief goods from the government,
certain families bought fresh fish, vegetables, medicines or essential hygiene items.
Two weeks after its activation, we have been able to provide relief to 1,439 families from the most vulnerable
communities such as Brgy. Escopa 3, Brgy. Payatas, both in Quezon City. The families in the said communities
are daily wage earners who are struggling to make ends meet. We have also found ways to send aid to families
in a number of remote areas in Mindanao like North Cotabato and Bukidnon. With the help of barangay officials
and community leaders, we were able to distribute much needed relief goods to these communities while
following quarantine protocols and physical distancing.
As part of our continuous kalinga efforts to support more GK families, we invite you to join us reach additional
2,000 families in the next two weeks.
Thank you to our generous givers and partners for making the first phase of relief possible. Your thoughtfulness
is deeply appreciated by the poor families in these communities. Thank you for not leaving them behind. Walang
iwanan, walang hawaan!
