Dear GK Leaders,
God’s peace be with us all.
Our GK2050 Vision has inspired many to take on leadership roles and continues to transform our organization, our
priorities and our programs in moving GK forward. This vision is pointing us to serve far-flung areas where the poor
are. Hunger, literacy and food security are the new frontiers we build towards.
As GK Leaders, (1) Discern well how you will allocate resources that will benefit the families, (2) Empower the
Kapitbahayan to actively participate in the implementation of the programs, and (3) Be sensitive to the new ways and
opportunities that will further the work. As we strain forward towards this vision, we will encounter challenges
that are unique to the communities that we are serving. With God’s grace, let us take courage to work for what is
best for the community.
After our 21st Anniversary last October 2024, there was a strong push to develop productivity hubs in the rural
areas to help the poor farmers increase productivity, implement GK’s READ Program, organize GK Kusina ng Kalinga and
GK Community Food Farms. Considering these developments, the GK Leadership revisited the role of showcase areas like
the Enchanted Farm (leased portion) and its programs in light of GK2050 Vision.
Recently, there were inquiries from among you about the GK Enchanted Farm and the involvement of our Former
Chairman, Mr. Tony Meloto, who resigned from GK in 2017. We are taking this opportunity to answer these queries.
Mr. Meloto visited and engaged the Enchanted Farm community last May of this year. He worked with some EF community
leaders and members to organize an event in the Enchanted Farm. The GK Board formally advised Mr. Meloto that he
should not visit the Enchanted Farm given the pending complaints that were filed against him. This created tensions
between some community leaders and members with the GK mission workers managing the farm. Talks of physical threats
against some GK mission workers circulated. To de- escalate the situation, the GK Leadership decided to pull out the
GK and SEED mission workers.
Given this situation and guided by our GK2050 Vision, values and culture, we deemed it best that the community be
given a free hand in deciding their way forward. To support and ensure an orderly process, GK turned over the leased
area, back to the landowner and requested him and a respected leader to work with the EF community so that whatever
has been built in the farm can continue to benefit the families. GK will always be there to support the EF Community
when needed just like any other GK community.
Let us go where the poor are. Let us lead and serve the GK Way. Let us work together to make GK2050 happen!
God bless us
GK Board
