If each of us takes part in caring and sharing, the overwhelming challenge of poverty can be addressed. Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much.

Caring Overflows All Over the Country

PROVINCE   Leyte     Sultan Kudarat     Lanao del Norte     Cebu     Davao     Surigao del Norte     Laguna

For the past few weeks, together with partners, friends, and volunteers, Team GK has been spending time with kids from different communities all over the country to show that no matter what the season, we can all Care Everyday.

Through simple gestures and activities like storytelling, art, and play workshops, we hope to impress upon their hearts and young minds that despite whatever hardships, they can dream about their futures because there are so many of us here for them today.

LEYTE

August 15 – San Isidro Civic Center was booming with laughter and cheers as over a thousand kids and parents gathered for a morning’s worth of festivities. Though in reality a simple ocassion, the sheer number of people in attendance made the atmosphere feel like it was a town fiesta.

Kids were treated to fun games, a dance competition, and hearty meals prepared by San Isidro’s Kusina ng Kalinga (KnK). Their parents on the other hand were also in high spirits as local leaders rallied them for another year of bayanihan in the kitchen.

Now on its 2nd year, KNK San Isidro is the biggest KNK operation in the country, preparing daily lunch meals for 5,125 school kids! Its success rests heavily on the everyday hardwork and heartwork of these parent volunteers.

That same morning Kuya Bodoy of Team GK also urged them, “Never stop dreaming for our children. Let us give them a shot at education. It is our legacy to them.”

Also joining Team GK and San Isidro LGU in this event were representatives from Manila-based The Results Companies. In support of the Care Everyday campaign, they distributed 1,000 rain coats so that the kids will also have protection on rain days.  Many of the San Isidro kids walk to school, and in far-flung barangays, kids endure walking for hours just so they can learn.

Through the Care Everyday campaign, we can help ensure that neither weather nor hunger can keep these kids from going to school everyday. To help more kids through this campaign, click here.

DAVAO

August 30 – There are many different ways to Care Everyday, and for Ate Sally and Team Project Linaw, caring everyday meant helping improve the quality of education by addressing visual impairment for kids.

Their team conducted eye check-ups and administered available remedies for 50 kids from various GK communities in Davao City (GK San Nicolas, GK Gravahan, GK Berjaya) and various elementary schools (in Brgy. Datu Sumalay, Samal Island, and Toril).

For Global Shapers Davao Hub, Invest Mindanow, and Carlly’s Café, caring is spreading the inspiration to share. They ran their own Care Everyday campaign so that kids participating in this event can also bring home school supplies.

How inspiring it is to see that possibilities are endless when it comes to connecting goodness!
