If each of us takes part in caring and sharing, the overwhelming challenge of poverty can be addressed. Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much.

Gawad Kalinga has activated Operation Walang Iwanan: Typhoon Lando. We intend to distribute 5,000 food packs (PHP 200 per pack) in the province of Nueva Ecija for the initial phase of the operations. Below are the latest updates from the ground:

October 29, 2015 (9:02pm)

WE MADE IT!!! In behalf of the families that YOU gave HOPE through the relief packs we distributed, MARAMING, MARAMING SALAMAT PO! From sharing our updates and stories to your families and friends to volunteering in our relief operations in the areas that are most difficult to reach, we brought HOPE to the families affected by #LandoPH TOGETHER!‬

October 24, 2015 (9:24pm)

‎‪#‎OperationWalangIwanan‬: Thank you for going the extra mile with us! Your support these past few days has rallied GK to reach families in remote barangays. They may be lacking in media attention but they are certainly are not lacking in need of our help.

Walang Iwanan! #Landph‬

October 24, 2015 (12:30pm)

"Today, we are establishing "lifelines" to remote and isolated barangays in Nueva Ecija and Aurora. We have established our repacking center in Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija (about 2 hours from Greenhills, take North Expressway, exit is San Simon). If you have goods like rice, noodles, canned goods that you want distributed, we are open to receiving them (no help is too small). Many are still in need, especially the next 4 to 5 days. Relief operations in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija. There is a need for those of us who were not affected to stop for a while and think on what we do to help. The rain has stopped but the flood waters keep coming in many communities affected by the typhoon. For those areas where there is no more flood water, ankle to knee deep mud is what the residence are facing. In both cases, hunger is every family's challenge. Let's act now. Please share.

October 21, 2015 (11:02am)

Thank you Manila Water Foundation for donating and  joining us in the relief operations in Nueva Ecija.

""Last Sunday, October 18, our matinee show got cancelled at the last minute. It was very stressful operationally but we're still grateful that most of Metro Manila was spared from massive flooding. Sadly, other parts of the country have not been as lucky.

Help us donate 5,000 food packs to flooded communities in Nueva Ecija. Catch No Filter 2.0 on its final weekend and we will donate our portion of the profits to Gawad Kalinga relief operations. Team GK is setting up relief operations in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija."

Thank you to the team behind the No Filter 2.0 Closing Shows for thinking about our families affected by Typhoon ‪#‎LandoPH‬ and and making us part of your event. Mabuhay po kayo!

"GK Volunteers together with AFP personnels are currently repacking food packs for distribution tomorrow in affected barangays in Cabiao Nueva Ecija. Just as we were preparing for drought the rains came. So I say, come rain, come drought, extreme weather will demand extraordinary acts of kindness. let's act for our farmers now...walang iwanan"

- Kuya Luis, GK Executive Director

October 20, 2015 (6:10pm)

For all of us who were spared by the storm, our P200 (the cost of a relief pack) will go a long way for a poor rice farmer and his family in the coming days. They have always planted the food in our tables, let's be there for them at this time of dire need.

Typhoon ‪#‎LandoPH‬ has definitely ravaged Central and North Luzon based from on-ground reports. We will focus our initial efforts in Nueva Ecija and we need YOUR help to raise 5,000 food packs for our farmers, who face hunger now that their farms are inundated and their crops wiped out.

You can GIVE NOW via online or bank deposit.
Please help us share this opportunity to your family and friends by sharing this post here online.
Maraming salamat po!

October 19, 2015 (6:53pm)

GK Operation Walang Iwanan Typhoon ‪#‎LandoPH‬ is now ACTIVATED.

We are in close coordination with all provinces that are being affected by Typhoon Lando, but GK will focus our initial relief operations in the province of Nueva Ecija. They are now experiencing massive flooding, mostly affecting rice farmers who will urgently need food packs. Thankfully, most if not all our GK communities in the province were spared. These GK communities will be our platform and our partners in distributing relief packs for the flood victims.

For the initial relief operations, we intend to distribute 5,000 food packs (PHP 200 per pack) and we would like to seek your help. At this point, it is more practical to receive donations in cash than in kind. You may donate online or through bank deposit.

Team GK will set up an operations center in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.

Monitoring the news but also grateful to get real-time updates from our on-ground teams on the actual situation in their respective areas through our SOS service using SMS.

Big thanks to our telco partners, Globe and Smart, for providing this SMS facility to help us respond better, GK's ITSD team for developing this tool that we can utilize during the most critical times and to our GK community leaders who are at the forefront of our work and risk life and limb to reach out to those in greater need, even if they themselves are affected.
Team GK is on-call and ready to respond if needed. Walang iwanan!

October 17, 2015 (11:38pm)

Rains like Ondoy, winds like Pablo. Lando is going to hit hard. Praying that everyone's made the necessary precautions and that there won't be any loss of lives frown emoticon May God protect the Philippines. And may we all be ready to respond and reach out to those who will be most affected. Walang iwanan!
