Governance Forum

Lecture Theater 68E, Ngee Ann Polytechnic

 

This forum will highlight governance frameworks and will feature bottom of pyramid innovations and possible partnership frameworks between developing and developed nations to help build a poverty free and sustainable world.  Local Chief Executives from the Philippines will also share actual templates of governance using the GK Way.

This will be a special evening that will showcase a musical extravaganza featuring the best of Singapore and the Philippines, and highlight the friendship among ASEAN nations. 

 

It will also be a night of honoring, as Gawad Kalinga Founder Tony Meloto honors Former Philippine President Corazon Aquino for being an exemplary Asian and the symbol of democracy for the region.

 

The Summit Guest of Honor, Philippine Vice President Noli V. De Castro will give the Keynote Message, honoring GK caretakers and partners who continue the legacy of heroism and love for country, and extend an invitation for other nations to join the GK movement to help eradicate poverty starting in Asia and eventually, the rest of the world.

Fr. Nebres will focus on a historical perspective of Asia’s journey, shared dreams and challenges as a people, and the role of Gawad Kalinga in presenting an effective anti-poverty development model that is truly Asian.

 

The Speaker will highlight the growing poverty around the world especially in the Asean Region, and showcase the key features of the GK development model and why it works not only for the Philippines but also for other developing nations in the world.

These workshops will highlight the emerging innovations from the ground, and will open the minds of delegates to explore new ways of building communities, the GK way.

The workshop will present the challenges of climate change and its effects on the global community, and discuss the intimate relationship between community and environmental planning to build sustainable communities for the future.

Each workshop will highlight strategic partnerships between Gawad Kalinga and various sectors, and provide a roadmap for partnership that can inspire and engage delegates to be a GK Builder in their respective countries.

 

 

 

Workshop 2A:

Raising a Generation of Asian Heroes and Global Citizens

VENUE: Lecture Theater 17, Business School, National University of Singapore

 

The workshop will feature stories of hope and transformation among students who involved themselves in GK work through its Global Research and Internship Programme (GK-GRIP).  This will also showcase concrete activities and experiences that are open for students and faculty through partnerships with GK.
