Salamat Gawad Kalinga. Lipad Pinoy lipad. I got stinky, I got dirty but see I LEARN. I learned how to build communities to end poverty... Go team GK...Go team Gillamac......at masasabi ko rin na masarap talaga ang first time...kasi first time ko maging volunteer sa Gawad Kalinga talagang best summer experience weeeeeehhhhh.

I got a text message from the principal of sta. fe central school she said " No exact words can express my thanks to all of you. I am really happy to retire this december from my 39 years of work and only during my 3 years of stay as a school principal the fences are painted. You are all a blessing to me. I wont forget you all.God bless you all!"

My first GK Bayani Challenge was a complete joy, a great experience and a good venue to be of service to others... This will surely be a great beginning, looking forward for more Bayani Challenges.

It's a very unforgetable summer experience...the sun was very hot...my skin was burnt....i still have the muscle pains...but it's worth it because I know that I experience all these because for the LOVE of our Country, our fellow less fortunate Filipinos. I'm very proud to be part of GK as it dreams towards 2024...for a FREE POVERTY PHILIPPINES...Go GK Team....Together We Can Do It...Walang Iwanan!! Huwaah!!

Joining the GK bayani challenge in Bantayan helped me realized that there are a lot of Filipino children who cannot afford to buy pair of slippers to protect them from illnesses. Being in a small group (Health Team) opened my eyes to reality that the country needs Medical Team who will devote their time and resources to meet the health needs of Filipinos who can't afford to buy medicines or even see a doctor. Kudos to all bayani and to Gawad Kalinga..Looking forward to the next GK bayani challenge

For the past years of my life, I thought I was the only one who wanted to make a difference in this country and that there's only a few people who cared until I met people in GK. Keep it up everyone! The movement must go on!

A perfect life can't be found in wealth, coz riches can be taken away;not in popularity, for popular people can be forgotten;not in beauty, for beauty isn't permanent;not in intelligence, coz it doesn't make us higher creations of GOD. Instead,a perfect life can be found from the love we give & receive from the people around us,the faith & blessings we share with others & our determined efforts as changemakers & nationbuilders.

Thank you Gawad Kalinga for the one of a kind experience! Me and my team mates from Team Manila and Team Assumption really had so much much fun during the whole duration of Bayani Challenge 2011 in Bantayan, Cebu. SEE YOU NEXT BAYANI CHALLENGE IN MINDORO OCCIDENTAL, MASBATE, LANAO DEL NORTE, COMPOSTELA VALLEY AND ORMOC LEYTE! ;)

I honor the Health Build Teams: Riverside College of Bacolod City, Red Cross Youth of Cebu and GKAL National Team. We had the smallest number of volunteers (34 to be exact) but we had tons of inspiring stories to share! Thank you and see you next year guys!
Myk Tolbo

When i tell my japanese students about the bayani challenge and GK,they ask why we volunteer, and if we get anything in return. i tell them we just want to help, expecting nothing in return. that's when they exclaim: "SUGOI!!" (amazing!!)
