"Rate of maternal death is high here because the hospital is far from the barrios. The mothers usually give birth at home and bring them to the hospital when they encounter problems during labor. Most of the time, the mother dies during the travel. Balay ni Nanay is built here at the GK community so mothers in the far-flung barrios can stay here when it's near their due date. This is important to us as much as it is important to the mothers because we are assisting them. We want the best for them."
