Pfizer is aware of GK’s dedication in building communities and becoming catalysts in uplifting the quality of life of the poor. Partnership with Pfizer was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on April 26, 2007 with Albert G. Mateo, Jr., representing Pfizer Philippines Foundation and Jose Yamamoto, MD representing GK with a supposedly scope of 3 years until 2010. Pfizer took part in Community Health Development GK Towerville in San Jose Del Monte Bulacan through the employment of Jefel Joy Mangubat, MD as GKal Health Manager of GK Towerville and Elvie Lavador, RN as GKal Office Administrator.

Partnership with Pfizer was well-coordinated and had really contributed to the development of the program. Because of Pfizer’s support, Towerville is currently one of the flagship site where all strategies of Gawad Kalusugan is implemented from Capacity Enhancement including GK health workers lectures, dental health training and skills such as reflexology, first aid and disaster management etc. to Service Delivery such as Nutrition, to Health Systems Development for the support of the initial community based health information training.

Since Pfizer’s disengagement in May 2008 as per advice of the Catholic Church because of the query of Pro life against Pfizer International its remaining financial support are being used for the continuous training of the GK Health Workers as well as stipend for the Gkal Towerville team. Plan for re partnership with Pfizer for the continuation of the other programs in GK Towerville is already in progress through Mr. Tony Meloto , Gkal PMG Sister Tess Tagulinao and GK Kalusugan team and optimistically it would be soon.
