REPORTS & RECOGNITION

It is the mandate of Gawad Kalinga to concretely deliver against its goal of ending poverty to families who have lived in slums and squalor from one generation after another. We measure ourselves against the better quality of life that families in our GK communities have achieved. Partners who have been with us from the very beginning recognize that the journey is rewarding, being witnesses to the transformation of the poor from a life of despair to one filled with hope. With this, we would like to share with you the following:

ACCOUNTABILITY

As we continue to aim for transparency and credibility always in our operations, we wish to share with you the small victories we have achieved in this effort to gain and keep your trust.

  • NGOSource Equivalency Determination

As part of its efforts to establish global credibility, Gawad Kalinga Foundation has completed the Equivalency Determination (“ED”) process and is now established as the equivalent of a U.S. public charity to facilitate funding from U.S. grant-makers. In partnership with Skoll Fund, GK worked on the ED process with NGOSource, a project of the Council on Foundations and Techsoup Global that helps U.S. grantmakers streamline their international giving. Their global reach, legal expertise and standardized methods enable a thorough, accurate analysis of a foundation in compliance with IRS regulations.

  • PCNC Certification as a Donee Institution

The Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) is the authorized institution of the Department of Finance that accredits all NGOs for this issuance of certificates of donation to its donors. Gawad Kalinga is one of the very few NGOs that have been granted accreditation by the PCNC.

  • Advisory Services from Top Consultancy and Financial Firms

Isla Lipana, a member of the Price Waterhouse Groups, is GK’s independent external auditor. It conducts an intensive and robust audit of our books.

SGV of the Ernst and Young Group conducts a Business Process Review and A Financial Statement Closing Process Review of our financial systems and operations. With SGV’s help, we were able to identify the gaps, weaknesses ad risks in our systems and processes, and more importantly in addressing and mitigating them.
