Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. (GK) is a Philippine-based movement that aims to end poverty for 5 million families, by first restoring the dignity of the poor. |

| GK LOREGA |

GK Lorega is a partnership between LGU of Cebu City, Congressman Raul Del Mar, Action for Nurturing Children headed by Fr. Max Abalos and Gawad Kalinga. The City of Cebu closed the old cemetery and converted the land to socialized housing. Congressman del Mar allocated his PDAF for the construction of the mid-rise structure as housing units for the beneficiaries. Fr. Max Abalos donated a substantial amount to the construction.
The beneficiaries are families who used to live in the cemetery even on top of tombs that are abandoned. They are composed of employees, construction workers, house wives and mostly unemployed.

A home address. When asked about what he is most grateful for, Mang Disco, in a heartbeat, will tell you that it’s having his very own home address. And you’ll see it in the way his face would light up and beam with pride whenever he’s made to share: “Condoville 1, Room 21, GK Lorega, Cebu City. Name: Dioscoro C. Pancho.”

Coming from Gorordo Avenue, just go straight, passing by Colegio de la Inmaculada Conception (CIC) on your left and Jollibee Gorordo on your right. At the intersection, go straight towards Echavez St. Turn left before Allsons' Inn and turn left towards the cemetery. You will see the GK community. You may also come from Fuente Osmeña (via Mango Avenue) or from SM (via M.J. Cuenco). |
