Christmas passed already but Day 9 of the Kiddie Paskuhan went on for 110 kids and their adult companions from the GK communities in Sunshineville, Tatalon, Upper Banlat, Tabora, and HSIA. The kids were treated to a fun Christmas party organized by Mabuhay Restop sponsored by Pinky & Abet Antonio with their families and friends as volunteers. They gave everyone free tshirts and lots of prizes. Each child left with loot bags from PLA. Even the Nanays and adult companions also received their own loot bags. Puppeteer-Ventriloquist Carlo Magno entertained the kids, who also enjoyed Tita Beauty’s Christmas story, a COMET ride and tour around Rizal Park, and the booths for face-painting, tattoo, funny hats and props, SELECTA ice cream, popcorn, snow cone, french fries and hot dog. Thank you to the generous sponsors and volunteers who made this Dec. 27 Kiddie Paskuhan possible (the Antonio, Lim, Suzara, Samson, and Rivera families). Truly the Christmas spirit is alive and well!

This was Tatay Ruben’s message as we wrapped up a simple paskuhan for the GK Ponggo community in Nagtipunan, Quirino last Dec 16. It was an afternoon of sharing meals, stories, and laughter capped off with a gift-giving of parols and noche buena packs to the families. 

This celebration is extra special because it was made possible by people like you who decided to care for the least among us. More than these gifts, it is this commitment to stay true to our promise of Walang Iwanan that continues to nurture the hope that had started to grow in their hearts.

Two days from now we will be celebrating Christmas and it is just amazing that as we celebrate with our families and friends we know that that we are sharing the same joy with those who don't have enough food on their plate. I'm glad that there are a lot who joined us and made this project successful. Day 4 of the Kiddie Paskuhan was for 300 kids from GK Pasig Line, Rizal Park transients and street children, Baseco, and Paradise Heights Smokey Mountain. They were treated to a fun Christmas party organized by Mabuhay Restop. Dedicated volunteers from the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan led by Eddie Choa were on hand to handle the different activities and help marshall the children. An Indonesian dance group entertained the kids (thanks to the Fiesta Folkloriada of the Bayanihan Dance Company) and the Rotarian ladies presented them with a special dance number. The kids enjoyed Tita Beauty’s Christmas story, a COMET ride and tour around Rizal Park, and the booths for face-painting, tattoo, SELECTA ice cream, popcorn, and snow cone . Each child left with loot bags and extra goodies from the Rotarians.

Even organizing Christmas parties involve a looooot of bayanihan and asking everyone to take part! May you continue to share and spread the true meaning of Christmas...and never tire of it! Share hope, share Christmas!

Bringing light to those in darkness. The families in Arch Angel #GawadKalinga Village in a remote barangay in San Remigio, Antique will no longer have to depend on kerosene lamps to light up their homes at night, starting this Christmas season!

Thanks to Stiftung Solarenergie Philippines and Hybrid Social Solutions, Inc. for providing solar home systems to each of the families. Thanks also to Team GK Antique and AFP for making it happen on ground. These colorful homes will now become the Christmas lanterns at night.

Day 3 of the Kiddie Paskuhan was for kids from GK Hiyas ng Maynila in San Andres and another set of kids from Paradise Heights Smokey Mountain. 100 kids and their adult companions were treated to a fun Christmas party organized by Mabuhay Restop. Russian and Estonian dance groups entertained the kids (thanks to the Fiesta Folkloriada of the Bayanihan Dance Company). The kids enjoyed a COMET ride and tour around Rizal Park with a volunteer tour guides JR Mariano and his friend Tanya. Tita Beauty shared a Christmas story and volunteers handled the booths (face-painting, tattoo, ice cream, popcorn, and snow cone booths). Kids tremendously enjoyed the SELECTA ice cream which was generously donated by President John Concepcion. Games were played after a hearty lunch as each child left with precious gifts from the parents and students of "Little Apprentice School" in Alabang! Through the generosity of our online givers, 85 Mangyan families of GK Malta Village in Oriental Mindoro celebrated a Parol ng Pag-asa paskuhan last December 2, 2014.

Gathered in the community's balay lakoy (big house), the kids presented a traditional dance while their elders performed chanted poetry. "Bunton buwaywa!" they said, which means "Thank You" in their dialect. More than the gifts, it is our presence that made them feel cared for.

"The House of Joy Workshop at Gawad Kalinga Bahay, Libmanan, Camarines Sur. Joy Samanski, a TV costume designer, came all the way from Toronto to teach the Kapitbahayan (GK Residents) to sew. She brought with her 4 sewing machines including the 1934 vintage Elna sewing machine that originated from Switzerland. GK Bahay will produce pillows, hats, stuffed toys, bags, puppets, purses soon!" - Eric, Team GK Southern Luzon

MANILA (Mabuhay Restop)

Day 2 of the Kiddie Paskuhan was for kids from Paradise Heights (Smokey Mountain). 100 kids and their adult companions were treated to a fun Christmas party organized by Mabuhay Restop. A very lively Bulgarian dance group entertained the kids (thanks to the Fiesta Folkloriada of the Bayanihan Dance Company). A new treat for the kids today was the COMET ride and tour where the kids rode around Rizal Park with a volunteer tour guide sharing with them about the Comet electric vehicle and the importance of innovation.

Tita Beauty shared a Christmas story, and volunteers from from LA and Manila handled the booths (face-painting, tattoo, ice cream, popcorn, and snow cone booths). Kids tremendously enjoyed the SELECTA ice cream which was generously donated by President John Concepcion. Games were played after a hearty lunch as each child left with a loot bag containing toys and candies prepared by Pick & Mix!

MANILA (Mabuhay Restop)

What a wonderful way to spread the Christmas spirit! 100 kids from GK Baseco and their adult companions were treated to a fun Christmas party organized by Mabuhay Restop. A fabulous Korean dance group entertained the kids (thanks to the Fiesta Folkloriada of the Bayanihan Dance Company), Tita Beauty shared a heart-warming Christmas story, and volunteers from Klik Eskuela handled the face-painting, tattoo, photo booths, while other volunteers handled the ice cream, popcorn, and snow cone booths. Fun games were played and prizes were provided by parents from the Learning Apprentice Preschool in Alabang (thanks to Tetet Dy). A hearty lunch was served and each child left with a loot bag containing toys and candies prepared by Pick & Mix!

DAVAO CITY

After all the planning and preparations..from saving money, buying, gathering, gift wrapping, packing of toys and gifts, including cooking of food for children, the Davao GK Youth Team went to an almost 3-hour rough road trip on a forward truck and non-aircon GK Van to the farthest GK Site in Davao City for their "Paraisong Pambata" Christmas activity.

More than a hundred kids and kapitbahayans in GK Sto. Tomas Malabog, Paquibato District experienced the Joy of Christmas with the party games, lot of prizes and gifts and food prepared for them. Likewise, the GK Youth Team went home with a heart "Full of Joy" on this 3rd Sunday of the Season of Advent. MALIGAYANG PASKO!

Tea 4 Toys is an Australian Children’s Charity founded by Rosalyn Manipis in 2009. The charity’s key purpose is to provide less advantaged children with brand-new toys. They achieved this by holding tea parties where everyone can enjoy a cup of tea and cakes in return for a toy donation.

This year’s toy drop is led by Jonathan and Joan Estera together with their sons Isaac and Moses and their parents Tony & Cecil, Andy & Josie. Amidst the burst of rain in an early afternoon, the family braved the path to the chapel of GK Sanrose where all 70 children were patiently waiting. After a short program, the 70 children were given toys, merienda, and parols to light up their homes.
