ABOUT BAYANI CHALLENGE

Gathering one million volunteers across 12 provinces from April 9 to June 12, the Bayani Challenge 2014: Walang Iwanan will be the most massive showcase of volunteerism that the country has seen. Every year since 2006, Gawad Kalinga (GK) and its partners have staged the Bayani Challenge with the objective of building relationships, bringing out the hero in everyone and raising resources and results for the poor that can only be achieved by working together.

This year, as the country confronts the unprecedented destruction brought by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), the Bohol earthquake and the Zamboanga siege, the Bayani Challenge 2014 (BC 2014) will be of a different scale altogether. With a clear and fixed target of ONE MILLION VOLUNTEERS, BC 2014 will be ongoing for 9 full weeks of rebuilding homes and schools, planting trees, conducting clean-up drives and health missions and investing time with the young – activities that carry out the GK promise of WALANG IWANAN (‘Leave no one behind’) to all those affected.
