Since the summer of 2006, Gawad Kalinga has been mounting the annual Bayani Challenge, a call for volunteers to help rebuild. The first one was a response to the victims of the mudslides in Panaon Island in Southern Leyte. Every year since then, the Bayani Challenge has become the convergence point of volunteers as we help rebuild one community and one town at a time.
This year, Gawad Kalinga is launching the Bayani Challenge on January 25, 2012 in Iligan for victims of Typhoon Sendong. This is part of the one month celebration of Edsa People Power, as GK again declares People Power Over Poverty.
It is our commitment as Team GK to the Filipino people that we will leave no one behind. Time to help rebuild lives Iligan and Cagayan de Oro! Join us! Tara na! Itayo ang bayan!
