The GK Solution to End Poverty
Our solution to end poverty is anchored on shared values and a common vision to build a world free of poverty starting with the Philippines. Poverty results when people forget to care for their fellowmen. Poverty is the consequence of our collective failure to be our brother’s keeper, when our caring and sharing is limited to our small circle of family and friends, instead of reaching out the many who are in need.
The problem of poverty is so massive that our response cannot be small. As a massive response, GK has taken the lead in organizing and uniting all sectors of society -- individuals, corporations, schools, government units, civic and religious groups towards the mission of nation-building. The GK movement transcends race and religion, and is bound together by values of faith and patriotism.
The core strategy of GK is to build beautiful, healthy and productive communities where the poorest of the poor will live in dignity and can begin building a better future for themselves and their children. Residents of these communities adhere to a code of shared values for community living which makes it easy for partners and volunteers to implement programs and activities that respond to the most basic human needs of shelter, food, education, and health.
