Our Partnership Strategy
Relationship Building.
Gawad Kalinga partnerships are built on a strong foundation of friendship and trust that goes beyond the legal agreements that bind them. For us, it is not about implementing programs – it is about living out our culture of caring and sharing that starts within the GK communities that we help, but is also eminent in the way that we relate with our supporters and partners.
Although money is important, true giving is more about passion than money. GK actively invites and engages volunteers and partners like you to share your time and expertise to get to know the families better, and help discover new and creative ways to serve them together. Because GK goes for the heart and not just the pocket, we have developed deep friendships with our volunteers and partners that is key to building sustainable partnerships.
Inclusive and Collaborative.
Poverty is a massive, multi-faceted problem that no single organization can solve on its own. This is why GK works with all sectors without judgment, harnessing the innate goodness of people and organizations who often want to give but do not know how, or have not found an organization that they can trust. Our experience has shown that there is no absence of caring and generosity in the world – people are simply looking for credible organizations.
GK works to unleash everyone’s potential and capacity to participate in the great task of nation-building. It is only by working together in the spirit of bayanihan (being a hero to one another) that we can find a lasting and sustainable solution to the complex issue of poverty. Anyone can volunteer their time, share their talents or provide resources. Every contribution matters, every help is significant.
Leveraging.
Creative leveraging allows us to multiply resources given by our partners. For instance, a dollar donated for the materials to build a house triggers a counterpart value in “sweat equity” from the beneficiaries, professional services from volunteer architects and engineers, and dedicated community organizing and program implementation by the Caretaker teams. The initial contribution also inspires many others to do their part by mobilizing other volunteers, donating schools, clinics and livelihood centers as their contribution to building the houses.
We estimate that every dollar given for GK translates to four dollars delivered to the poor because of GK’s ability to leverage your contribution with other resources that are triggered once you give.
Co-branding.
Because GK is an investment in development that is meant to inspire and attract others, it is our culture to honor all our partners and to co-brand with them. GK has visible and measurable results that has made it a leading brand for development and nation-building, but it is made stronger by the collective integrity of our partners and caretakers. By building on each other’s strengths, we create a powerful synergy that has now rallied an entire nation to support our work.
