This year, Gawad Kalinga USA (GK USA) celebrates its 10th anniversary. That makes our tradition of coming together extra special, and we are excited to share updates and map out action plans with you to intensify the Gawad Kalinga movement in the United States.
On
October 5, 2019, we will hold a
Gawad Kalinga USA conference at the
Hampton Inn & Suites Tampa Northwest Oldsmar at 4017 Tampa Road, Oldsmar, Florida 34677.
With the theme,
“Pathways to Solidarity: Collaborating for Impact in the Fight Against Poverty,” the conference will be a chance to celebrate the gains over the years, to recognize and thank supporters and volunteers who made these possible, and to welcome new mission partners. Together, we will create GK USA's roadmap towards realizing the mission to end poverty for five million Filipino families by 2024. The plenary session topics and the hands-on workshops are designed to empower participants and raise champions for the platforms of Gawad Kalinga.
Our guest speakers will be led by Fr. Bienvenido Nebres, SJ. A National Scientist of the Philippines honored for the contributions he has made to math and science education and social reform, Fr. Ben is a member of GK’s Board of Trustees. He was instrumental in establishing GK Ateneo, mandated to build institutional partnerships and support GK’s ground programs. The driving force behind several GK villages, he is also one of the pillars of Kusina ng Kalinga.
We will be joined by Tony del Rosario, Chairman of Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. Singapore-based Tony is Coca Cola Far East’s General Manager for Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Brunei. His GK journey began over 15 years ago in Indonesia. Tony has served in GK’s Board of Trustees for several years before assuming Chairmanship in 2018.

GK USA remains as one of the biggest contributors to Gawad Kalinga’s work. While there are many reasons to celebrate, there is an even bigger reason to persevere. With millions of Filipino families still living below the poverty line, we have yet to win the war against poverty. And we will. Working hand-in-hand in solidarity, we can push boundaries and accomplish more than we can imagine.
