Pangil, Laguna – On june 26, 2018, Atlas Copco, a world-leading provider of sustainable solutions, inaugurates its first-ever Water For All Project in the Philippines. In partnership with Gawad Kalinga, the company provides access to safe drinking water to the 72 families of Brgy. Dambo, in Pangil, Laguna.

Water for All is a run on a voluntary basis by employees within the Atlas Copcp Group. The basis for funding comes from the voluntary employee donations which are matched twice the amount by the company. 100% of this money goes to Water For All Projects that need access to clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene.

The initiative started with the two Atlas Copco employees, Torgny Rogert and Peter Hahansson, perceived an ongoing drought in Peru. It gave them a strong urge to help the affected area which made the whole Atlas Copco Group participate. The first Water for All project in Peru was so successful that it continues doing good in 50 other countries in the world.

“1.2 billion of people in the world are still experiencing water scarcity and another 2.4 billion of people have inadequate sanitation that results to contamination of clean water. Here in the Philippines, as we know that we are surrounded by prominent bodies of water, lack of access to safe drinking water still exist. In fact, 55 people in the Philippines die everyday due to clean water shortage and over 30 million more people are struggling to obtain improved sanitation facilities.

“With Water For All, close to 2 million people around the world have been provided access to clean drinking water. We’ve partnered with Gawad Kalinga to help us implement the project in the Philippines as we remain thru to the vision of this project which is to empower the minorities and reach the grassroots by providing them with water them with water to as they build their respective communities.” Says Sanjeev Sharma, General Manager if Atlas Copco Philippines.

“The inauguration in Brgy. Dambo may be the first Water for All in the Philippines but definitely not the last as Atlas Copco aims to provide clean drinking water one household and one community at at time,” he adds.
