RCBC Bankard and Gawad Kalinga strengthen ties through new KNK kitchen

The new and fully operational Kusina ng Kalinga (KNK) Kitchen in Angat stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between Gawad Kalinga (GK) and RCBC Bankard, the credit card servicing entity of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC).
The alliance between RCBC Bankard and GK was highlighted during the relaunch of RCBC Bankard’s Diamond Platinum Mastercard. Through the Card’s Diamond Cares Program, for every PhP100 spent, PhP0.20 is donated to Kusina ng Kalinga.
In honor of that partnership, GK has established a new KnK kitchen inside Marcelo L. Adriano Elementary School in Angat, Bulacan, near the GK Enchanted Farm, and named it after RCBC Bankard.
Kusina ng Kalinga’s vision to end hunger and malnutrition among public school students has been realized through the 15 running KnK kitchens all over the country as well as the five kitchens currently under way in ARMM. The new kitchen in Angat is currently feeding over 300 children from Kinder to Grade 3, with plans to expand that number to 1,000 before the month ends.
The Angat Kitchen currently has a meal plan composed of over 20 dishes, each with malunggay as a core ingredient, so that every meal has the highest nutritional value possible.
“Our goal is anti-hunger, and whether a child is malnourished or not, we ensure that all 300 students are given a hot meal every day,” says Jhem Cariño, Head Chef at the Angat Kitchen.
At the recent 4th Global Business Summit of GK, representatives from RCBC Bankard, led by President and CEO, Simon Calasanz, as well as First Vice-President and Marketing Group Head, Angela Mirasol further demonstrated RCBC Bankard’s commitment to the partnership by volunteering in the distribution of packed lunches to the children of the school.

The RCBC Bankard Diamond Card – Platinum Mastercard relaunch was held on November 24, 2016, Thursday at the RCBC Plaza, 47/F Executive Lounge, Yuchengco Tower 1, Makati from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
A luncheon event and hosted by television host and a Korean expatriate, Sam Oh. RCBC invited selected media/publication, Mastercard Philippines.
