The Ascott Limited lights up its Christmas Trees for Kusina ng Kalinga
By: Alaine Figueras

The Ascott Limited (TAL) ushered the start of the Christmas season with a series of tree lighting ceremonies that aim to gather donations for Kusina ng Kalinga (KnK). This is the second year that TAL is using its annual Christmas celebration to help raise funds for KnK.

Art Gindap, TAL Regional Manager, led the ceremonial tree lighting at the Ascott Makati which kicked off a series of similar activities in all its properties in Metro Manila. “We are one with Gawad Kalinga in the advocacy to address the problem of hunger especially among children who are most vulnerable,” he said in a speech. “In 2015, we raised almost half a million during the holiday season. This year, we invite our guests to help us double that achievement to be able to help more children in public schools.”

Guests and visitors at all TAL properties are invited to donate a minimum of PhP150 through angel ornaments that they will sign and hang on the lobby Christmas trees.

Art Gindap (Regional General Manager, TAL), Tony Meloto (Founder, Gawad Kalinga), Joanne Golong-Gomez (General Manager, Ascott Makati), and the kids of Kusina ng Kalinga QC standing by the beautifully-lit Christmas Tree at Ascott Makati.

Gawad Kalinga Founder Tony Meloto gave a thanksgiving message during the launch at Ascott Makati, as he lauded the support and commitment of TAL to the anti-hunger campaign. He joined TAL’s Art Gindap and Ascott Makati General Manager Joanne Golong-Gomez in the festive switchingon of the Christmas tree lights. The event was capped by a wonderful medley of Christmas songs by the Boscorale of Don Bosco Makati, led by its chorale master, Alvin Paulin.

Thank you, Paolo Abrera, for sharing your talent with us!

Boscorale of Don Bosco Technical Institue - Makati also performed during Ascott Makati's Tree Lighting.

Somerset Olympia Makati, Citadines Salcedo Makati, and Somerset Alabang Manila also welcomed the Christmas season with Gawad Kalinga on the 16th of November.

Building Relationships through the Partnership

The Ascott Limited’s Human Resources (HR) Department has been initiating several opportunities for its employees to go on ground. Some of which are a few trips to our Kusina ng Kalinga kitchens in San Gabriel, La Union and Quezon City. These have allowed the employees to have a deeper appreciation of the company’s support to Gawad Kalinga’s community development projects.

The volunteer trips and HR-led activities in support of GK have also made an impact to the relationships in the workplace. Being on-ground ignited heartfelt level of friendship, understanding, and solidarity among the employees and GK Kapitbahayans.
