Gawad Kalinga bags Rotary Club Manila Presidential Awards

Gawad Kalinga receives 2016 Presidential Award from Rotary Club of Manila last June 7, 2016 in McKinley Room, Marco Polo Club, Forbes Park, Makati City. Gawad Kalinga is being cited for its partnership with RCM in planning, organizing, and implementing shelter and livelihood projects for Typhoon Yolanda victims in Batad, Iloilo, Barangay Daga, in Cadiz, Negros Occidental and Pontevedra, Capiz.


The last completed project was in Barangay Daga in Cadiz City were 30 housing units and a grocery building were turned over last May 20, 2016. President Ebot Tan, ISDG/AG/IPP Frank Evaristo, PE/VP Teddy Ocampo, Dir. Oca del Rosario, and ES Anna Toledo flew to Bacolod to attend the ceremony and they were welcomed by the community, Mayor Patrick G. Escalante, Jr. of Cadiz City, Daga Barangay Chairwoman Helen Dela Cruz, and officials and representatives of Gawad Kalinga.


According to President Ebot Tanupon, they were warmly met and greeted by the beneficiaries when they arrived, who could not hide their joy at receiving the housing units and the grocery building after having suffered the devastation of Typhoon Yolanda? ISDG/AG/IPP Frank Evaristo spearheaded the project in 2014 and they sourced the funds from different international donations. It was made possible thru the generosity of Governor Kai (Rotary Japan) and the donations from our other foreign sisters clubs, which were earmarked for shelter and livelihood projects to alleviate the lives of the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
