Globe Telecom adds color to GK Georgetown

In Dasmariñas stood the recently-constructed 10 houses of Georgetown in GK Bayanihan Village, coated only with a white primer. The village was initially built due to the generosity of Ms. Georgina Wilson. Last July 15, 2016, the Telecom Wireless Team under Network Telecom Group (NTG) of Globe Telecom decided to lend a hand to the project, and added splashes of color to this sturdy row of plain houses as a part of their team’s biannual volunteer activity.

The Telecom team arrived in Cavite early that Friday for a GK orientation led by Tito Mandy of GK Cavite and Tito Rudy, the head of Kapitbahayans for GK Bayanihan Village. After an introduction to GK’s long-term mission, two residents of the nearby GK Unilab Village shared their heartwarming stories of finally being bequeathed with their own homes after years of adversity. Armed with this newfound inspiration as well as the 30 gallons of various colors of paint supply they unselfishly brought with them, Globe Telecom began their whole-day painting of Georgetown houses.

Globe also brought the very paints they used for their whole-day activity.

Despite the searing heat, Globe employees enthusiastically persevered, even extending their stay by an hour so as to complete the entire row’s coating. During their lunch break, they insisted on sharing Max’s food packs with some village residents involved in the orientations and painting activities. Moved by Globe’s generosity, Tito Rudy thanked them once more at day’s end, and extended an invitation for future visits and volunteer activities.

Globe volunteers are tireless in their effort to help.

It was a fruitful and uplifting volunteer event not only for Globe Telecom, but also for the residents of GK Bayanihan Village. Because of Globe’s commitment to help in any way they can, Georgetown is now ready to welcome 10 families – walang iwanan indeed.
