Magsisimula na muli ang Week 7 bukas and YOU can repeat the crazy experience or still be part of our summer adventure!

Faith in humanity restored every single day. Because the Kapitbahayans (residents of GK communities) inspire us endlessly in paying it forward as they volunteer in our Bayani Challenge activities across the country like this Tita at Pototan, Iloilo.

Bayani Challenge is a must experience to get to know the beauty of the people in a barangay. YOU can still take part!

Happy groufie makes Happy Thursdays...or everyday! Sino paborito mo kasama sa groufie? Yihee!

We're bringing smiles to kids at Brgy. Pinagsama, Taguig City and to more kids across the country!

Bayani Challenge will definitely bring you back to the basics...and that includes our Pinoy games which is part of our beautiful culture!

Maraming salamat SA INYO!

Pwede pang tumulong sa mga public schools malapit sa inyo for the upcoming Bayani Challenge!

Guess who joined our Bayani Challenge in Tanay, Rizal! Beauties, inside and out! Thank you for spending time with our kids and our families!

"Gusto ko lang magbigay ng konting saya at ishare na din ang blessings na natanggap ko." - Janica Lubina, Bb Pilipinas Miss International 2015

BOHOL (Anda)

Bohol is all set for the most exciting summer ever with this year's Bayani Challenge.

Because hunger ends when caring begins, our kitchen volunteers are here in Anda, preparing for the Paraisong Pambata and feeding.

"Happy Birthday Thanya! Ilang taon ka na?"

"7 po. Pinakamasayang birthday ko ngayon."

"Bakit?"

"Kasi nandito si Tatay."

Thanya has celebrated her past 4 birthdays without her tatay because Kuya Tonyo is always away on mission, where he's needed most. Today she and her brother are the youngest volunteers of the ‪Bayani Challenge here in Anda (Bohol). She tells me that before they arrived in Bohol, they also joined tatay in Ormoc (Leyte) and Barili (Cebu).

The mission often brings us to the farthest places, away from our comfort zones and away from our loved ones. This is never easy. But I look at Thanya and Biboy and know that the sacrifices their parents are making today are worth it. I know they will grow up in a kinder and safer world, where the mission to ‪#‎endpoverty‬ is no longer just a dream but a reality.

— Gia Leanne Luga, GK Worker

"More than a year after the earthquake and supertyphoon that shook Visayas, the youth of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Samar, and Eastern Samar are gathered today in Anda: united in their resilience, stronger than ever before, and more than ready to take their place and ‪#‎endpoverty‬ in this generation.

How can my heart not overflow with HOPE when I have a country and people this beautiful? ‪#‎walangiwanan‬ ‪#‎hopecon‬ ‪#‎gawadkalinga‬"

— Gia Leanne Luga, GK Worker

"I've always believed that words and stories can move mountains. But how do I speak of hope to the faces behind the stories that I've collated and written in the past year? With utmost humility and gratitude.

Today, I got to personally tell the youth of Central and Eastern Visayas that BECAUSE of their hope stories, we were able to inspire people to give, rebuild communities, and make hope real for many more lives. It is their resilience in the face of adversity, their heroism in the midst of immense loss, and their courage to stand up and rebuild after the biggest disasters that make hope very REAL for me.

It is such a privilege to be in their midst. Yes, there is hope for this country. Yes, the next generation is ready to take their place. Yes, we can ‪#‎endpoverty‬ together."

— Gia Leanne Luga, GK Worker

Throughout the weekend, volunteers actively participated in workshops on Disaster Response, Social Entrepreneurship, Kusina ng Kalinga, Kalinga sa Kalikasan (Environment), and Youth Development Program. With all of these workshops, the youth also got to brainstorm on how they would be applying these interventions to their own barangays when they get home.

"Maraming hindi nakakaintindi sa atin dito. Yung gigising ka ng maaga kahit pwedeng hindi naman. Magpapagod kahit pwedeng hindi. Pupunta sa malayong lugar kahit walang pera, pero pupunta pa rin cause we're crazy people here. It all boils down sa reason na nagmahal tayo, nagmamahal sa kapwa natin" - Kuya Jerdie ❤

- Kuya Anthony ❤

Going back to Cebu (home) today with a heart na puno ng pagmamahal at pag-asa.

"Di na magpapapigil, di na aatras

Di na magpapatinag, tayo ang lakas

Hahamunin ang lahat para sa bayan

Ngayon na tayo tatayo, kaya natin to!

Walang imposible pag walang iwanan."

"To the more than 600 youth who traveled far and wide to spend their weekend in the Hope Conference here in Anda, Bohol, thank you for accepting the challenge of building hope where it is needed. You are now an active part of this nation’s journey out of poverty, and as you go back to your barangays, municipalities, and provinces, may your day to day lives inspire others to do the same.

May your generation rise above all the pettiness, brokenness, and problems of the generations before you. May you find solutions instead of harping on the problems, dream big dreams for the country and not just for yourselves, and take your place in leading this nation back to greatness.

Together, we can ‪#‎endpoverty‬."

— Gia Leanne Luga, GK Worker

ILOILO (Oton)

Barangay Walang Iwanan conquers Oton, the 20th town in Iloilo to participate in this year's Bayani Challenge. The day began with an invocation and the Philippine National anthem led by the Oton cultural group. The program's emcees were Jason Gonzales and Cris Montano.

Bingawan then turns over the #brgywalangiwanan to the town of Oton. We were entertained right after by the spectacular cultural performance by the first runner up of the Katagman Festival. Wow!

We also had an inspiring chat with Mayor Vincent Flores on how different organizations in Oton can work together for the greater good. Heroism in Action. The mayor inspires Luis, Luis inspires the mayor. A GK village will soon rise in Oton: the first in southern Iloilo.

Volunteers from different barangays in Oton were united with their commitment to help #endpoverty for their town. Of course, everyone had to participate in the Unity Dance! :)

Volunteers had even more fun as they got to play the Laro ng Lahi, or different Filipino games such as the kadang race and dakpanay pantat.

One of the highlight activities was the feeding, where volunteers got to interact with children and fill their stomachs through a mobile kitchen.

The Bayani Challenge ends with a fun run for all the volunteers.

METRO MANILA (Taguig)

Walang Imposible pag walang iwanan! Mga Taguig handa na itayo ang bayan!

Hunger ends where sharing begins! Were bringing smiles to 400 kids today at Brgy Pinagasama. Make a difference, share hope, bring love, volunteer!

The families of GK Rotary Village at Taguig City pooled their resources and cooked for their neighbors at Brgy. Pinagsama. Along with GK Youth PUP Taguig, they volunteered for Bayani Challenge 2015 Taguig. If they can do it, so can we! ‪#‎BrgyWalangIwanan

My Brother's Keeper.

"Inaalagan ko sya dahi mahal ko sya."

9 yr old Daniel lovingly shares his meal with his 6 yr old brother. Both siblings are from GK Rotary Village at Taguig. Children freely express their feelings without any filter. If we can be like them, our lives will be happier! ‪

#‎endpoverty‬

Kalinga ng Kalikasan, Kaligayahan ng Kabataan! World Wildlife Fund facilitates conservation of endangered species workshop & gives joy to 300 kids who joined Bayani Challenge 2015 at Taguig City. Thank you for the gifts of love, WWF-Philippines & Rustan's! ‪#‎BrgyWalangIwanan‬

Brgy. Bagumbayan takes on the challenge of nation building! The rich talents of the youth have great potential. If we create more opportunities for them, we can help them achieve their dreams. ‪#‎endpoverty

And finally, we've arrived at the closing ceremony of a fun filled 5 day of service. May the magic of helping others stay with us every day! WALANG IWANAN!

RIZAL (Tanay)

Tanay was also up for the Bayani Challenge as volunteers gathered in front of the provincial capitol to open it with the Unity Dance.

Throughout the Bayani Challenge, GK residents and volunteers from all sectors of society worked hand in hand to add more homes to the GK Village, which was originally built for Ondoy survivors. This is how a nation is built brick by brick.

"Magmula pa nung bagyong Ondoy, hindi na tayo iniwan ng ‪#‎GawadKalinga‬, kaya mapalad tayong maging kasapi ng ‪#‎BayaniChallenge‬ ngayong taon, para naman tayong mga taga-Tanay ay magkaisa at maipamalas ang pagtutulungan sa bawat isa. Sanay maging totoo sa bawat gawain natin ang pagkalinga at hindi pag-iiwanan."

— Mayor Lito Tanjuatco,
Tanay, Rizal

There were also other activities all throughout, such as free haircuts c / o our Philippine Army, school refurbishing, and Kalinga Nights.

SIQUIJOR (Maria)

Siquijor is one of the provinces where GK presence was never established. Efforts to establish a community or a program was always met with words ” wala'y pobre sa Siquijor"( there is no poverty in Siquijor). But poverty is not only in the lack of resources but also in the incapacity to share and care amidst abundance. So Thank you Mayor Asok and Maria, Siquijor for allowing us to share and help! Welcome to Brgy Walang Iwanan! ‪#‎endpoverty‬

Face painting, story telling at marami pa!

"We are not only building blocks for houses, but also building foundations for learning"
