CEBU (Barili)
Barili is overflowing with the spirit of bayanihan as different barangays, schools, officials, and organizations gather for the opening parade of the Bayani Challenge.

The Brgy Walang Iwanan caravan went from Poblacion all the way to the farthest barangays of Barili: Mantalongon and Guiwanon.

We are welcomed by a very amazing dance number from the youth of Barili. And it is now official! Start of Day 1 of Barili Challenge.

The mayor opens Brgy Walang Iwanan with this summer's hottest volunteer activity:
"Brgy Walang Iwanan is in line with what we want to happen in our municipality. It is the same spirit that we are fighting for in our town. It is a challenge for us in Barili to answer to our town's concerns. We will always have something to contribute despite our age, social status or financial standing. We can be heroes, but we have to awaken the hero in us."

Part of the Bayani Challenge is a Youth Bayanihan Forum participated in by all the energetic young volunteers who were in Barili.

Volunteers also headed out to facilitate Paraisong Pambata activities for over 200 kids in Brgy. Campanga, Brgy. Malolos, and Brgy. San Rafael.

Aside from this, volunteers went to 7 schools throughout Barili for simultaneous school painting and refurbishing, with paint c/o the local government unit (LGU). In the days that followed, the painting of schools and day care centers went on, thanks to paint from Davies.

|
|
|
|
|
Closing the Bayani Challenge was a very important milestone: the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the local government of Barili, Cebu. A new GK community will soon rise here at Brgy Mantalongon. The Bayani Challenge in Barili may be over but Brgy. Walang Iwanan goes on!

EASTERN SAMAR (Giporlos)
The Bayani Challenge here in Giporlos, Eastern Samar has begun! Let's give love, hope and happiness to those who need help here in Giporlos.
Kusina ng Kalinga in Brgy. Parena, Giporlos, Eastern Samar:
It will always be a delight to see a smiling child, and to know that you are one of the reasons behind that smile. We have contributed 80 kiddie smiles today. Thanks to the efforts of our parent volunteers from Barangay Parena who actively participated in the first wave of our Kusina ng Kalinga.

A 3-kilometer hike to the planting site is nothing compared to the immeasurable help that our volunteers just rendered to Mother Earth. Planting Uway seedlings in the jungly part of Brgy. Roxas of Giporlos was all worth the sore feet and aching knees.
