Barangay Walang Iwanan is all about. It is about connecting everyone to do good, to convert the goodness so that we can all work together and bring out the greatness of everybody."

- Luis Oquiñena, GK Executive Director

Best summer adventure starts NOW! Bayanihan started in Iloilo and Cebu...with school refurbishing and building homes for families in Northern Cebu! That's just Day 1!!

Hello from Daanbantayan, Cebu!

We're excited of what awaits us today for Day 2! And we still definitely need YOU!!!

How are you spending your summer? This is US. And we'd LOVE for YOU to take part!

Maayong buntag mula sa Southern Leyte at Cebu!!! Tara, tara, tara!

Who run the world? Kids! That would be a happy one! And they capture our hearts too! Days spent with them may not be enough but it always change the hearts of our volunteers.

ILOILO (Batad)

To open the Bayani Challenge in Batad, Iloilo, various representatives from the municipalities of the north cluster, central cluster, and south cluster converged to show their support and commitment for Barangay Walang Iwanan. As they work together to #endpoverty in their barangays, they will also end poverty for the entire municipality of Batad and the province of Iloilo.

Things were off to an exciting start as the event was kicked off with a fun run, participated in by ~1,500 energetic runners.

In the next few days, volunteers got very busy with their chosen interventions. A highlight activity was the Paraisong Pambata and feeding at Batad Elementary School.

Feeding in 3 barangays was made extra fun thanks to the energy of the Assumption Alumni volunteers.

The beautiful smiles of the children were guaranteed to make our day.

And of course, no Bayani Challenge would be complete without the classic boodle lunch!

SOUTHERN LEYTE (Maasin)

As we open this years Bayani Challenge in Eastern Visayas here in Maasin City Southern Leyte, it is a privilege for us to once again celebrate the spirit of bayanihan here in Southern Leyte where Bayani Challenge was born....

Not even religious differences can divide us as the Muslim Community joins us in opening the Bayani Challenge here in Maasin. We may have different faith but we all believe that BAYANIHAN is still alive.

"Ang ating kalaban ay ang kawalan at kahirapan... Tayo ay nakalimot, tayo ay umasenso pero nakalimutan natin ang ating mga kababayan na walang wala, kaya nandito tayo ngayong upang bigyan ng importansya ang mga mahihirap, salamat GK sa pagpapaalala sa amin na wala dapat maiiwan, lahat tayo ay aangat at.magiging ayos ang ating buhay.... Walang Iwanan!"

— Hon. Nacional Nico Mercado, Provincial Association of Barangay Council Federation President, Southern Leyte

"Everything in life is a choice. That is why it was also my choice to help others."

— Ryzza Mae Lagsub

"If you want something done, you'll do it wholeheartedly."

— Kaeane Lagsub

It is always a good sight to see siblings work together for one common goal. And though it has always been a challenge, the Lagsub sisters proved that even for one single moment, siblings can work together.

They even shared that they don't usually agree. In fact they said that they are totally opposite. Like how north and south stay in two different poles. Ironically, they seem to agree in one single thing and that is helping and working for the benefit of others.

Sometimes, it only takes a simple move to change things or even everything. Because unity doesn't come from similarity but from our differences.

An SQA Engineer, Jandy Diaz works full time in Lexmark Cebu. She asked for a 1-day leave and flew to Maasin City, Southern Leyte to join the launching of Bayani Challenge 2015 in Eastern Visayas. She describes her first GK experience as overwhelming, inspiring and heartwarming...

"People are great and they make me forget my age. And its always great to help," she says with a hearty laugh.
