Love Means Walang Iwanan: Saturdates All Over the Country
[Date Created: March 18, 2015]

Last February 28, volunteers had love-filled Saturdates with the children of our GK communities all over the country. That morning, joy and excitement overflowed in Metro Manila (Mandaluyong City, Quezon City), Capiz (Roxas City), Cebu (Cebu City), and Surigao del Norte (Surigao City).

QUEZON CITY

In Quezon City, before the love month ended, volunteers spread the love and spent the day with 50 children from GK communities. Volunteers pitched in contributions to bring the 50 children from GK communities all over Quezon City to the playground of Ateneo Grade School, where the activity was held.

Part of the contribution will also support Kusina ng Kalinga Quezon City, a program which aims to end hunger for 2,000 children for the entire year. With this contribution, each volunteer who was present will be able to end hunger for a child for a whole month. Hunger ends where caring begins!

Follow Bayani ng Lungsod Quezon in Facebook to volunteer for their regular activities.

MANDALUYONG CITY

Metro Manila volunteers also had the option of going to Mandaluyong City to bring smiles and hope to the kids of GK Hilaga-Kapalaran in Barangka Drive. Some volunteers from the February 14 Paraisong Pambata activity even returned to give love the second time around!

CAPIZ

In Capiz, a province slowly recovering from the damage of Super typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), volunteers came in droves and showed the children of Holy Family GK Village, Milibili, Roxas City that truly, they will not leave them behind.

Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion, The School of the Archdiocese of Capiz, joined the 143 Challenge and mobilized their students and teachers to go on Saturdates and spend time with the kids not only this Saturday but also in the succeeding 2 Saturdays of the Love Means Walang Iwanan campaign.

SURIGAO

The kids in GK Looc, Brgy. Luna, Surigao City also felt the love as volunteers spent the morning with them, even helping them make Valentine cards for their parents.

Gawad Kalinga is not a charity, rather, it's a nation-building movement that aims to end poverty by building empowered and sustainable communities. Like these volunteers, you too can make children’s hearts happy by spending Saturday morning with them. For the Love Means Walang Iwanan campaign, we’ve lined up Valentine card-making, parlor games in pairs, and of course, lunch to end the date! Check out the main campaign page HERE, or check out what other volunteers have posted.

You can also GIVE NOW directly to the campaign.
