Rotary Club of Manila donates 12M for Haiyan (Yolanda) Survivors

by Joyce Uy

A year after Haiyan (Yolanda) and there are still a lot of people who are in dire need of help. Good thing there are still a handful of groups who have not forgotten the tragedy that happened to the Visayas Region last November 2013. Rotary Club of Manila and Rotary Japan are one of the few organizations that have recently helped the survivors of Yolanda. Through Gawad Kalinga, they donated PHP12M to build new homes for 80 families, specifically helping three provinces: Negros Occidental, Iloilo, and Capiz.

It was last October 30 when Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) and GK signed the Memorandum of Agreement and turned over the 12M check in Manila Polo Club. The event was attended by the Rotary Club Members, its President Frank Evaristo and GK Father and Founder Tony Meloto. Truly, this will make a great impact in the lives of the families that will be given new homes.
