30 LBC volunteers help refurbish the Maasin Day Care Center in Leyte

LBC has been a very strong partner of Bayani Challenge ever since 2013. Last year, LBC was a major sponsor and was present in 10 sites, raising 150 employee volunteers to participate in the Bayani Challenge. ”The idea was to inspire heroes out of seemingly ordinary citizens and endorse solidarity as the only real solution to the country’s poverty crisis.”

This year, they continued to support BC2014 by still sponsoring the event. Even their employee volunteer count has increased from 150 to 200 participants. LBC was able to deploy around 200 volunteers all over Yolanda hit provinces such as Leyte, Iloilo, Capiz, Negros Occidental, Aklan, Eastern Samar, Antique, and Cebu.

In Iloilo, LBC volunteers also helped distribute relief goods to the Typhoon Yolanda survivors.

But they didn’t stop there. Not only did they go to provinces affected by Yolanda, they also went to Bohol and Zamboanga as well to help rebuild lives after the earthquake and the siege.

The strong volunteerism spirit of LBC employees is consistent nationwide, even all the way to Mindanao. Hear what the employees themselves have to say:

"Dati na po akong nag volunteer sa GK noong nasa kolehiyo pa ako sa Bicol. Nakakatuwang malaman na dito sa Zamboanga ay mayroon ding mga tulad nito. Nagpapasalamat ako na nakasama ako sa Bayani Challenge. Kahit papaano nakaka wala ng stress sa trabaho. Masarap din sa pakiramdam ang tumulong para mapasaya ang kapwa.”

LBC Express Zamboanga City

"Natutuwa kami na kahit isang araw, pwede kami lahat sa LBC Express Western Mindanao tumulong upang mapaganda ang silid-aralan ng mga bata dito sa Brgy. Maasin. Sabi nga sa damit namin, "Make Someone's Day." Nakakatuwang mapasaya ang ating kapwa.”

LBC Head Office, Western Mindanao

Since Bayani Challenge 2014 was focused in the Visayas, a lot of people were not able to join. So GK decided to make a mini BC event in Cavite that people from Luzon could go to. Of course, LBC’s presence in this event was once again felt as 24 of their employees put on their working clothes and participated in the farm build. Aside from doing the farm build, some of the employees also opted to join the Human Nature Bayanihan Race where they competed with other teams by doing different tasks while the hard rain was pouring.

From doing house builds, refurbishing schools, farming, and spending time with the kids, LBC has truly been an exemplary partner of Bayani Challenge 2014. Thank you LBC for helping GK make BC 2014 a success!

Last summer, over 1 MILLION VOLUNTEERS joined hands in rebuilding Aklan, Antique, Bohol, Capiz, Cebu, Eastern Samar, Iloilo, Leyte, Negros Occidental, Palawan, Samar and Zamboanga through Bayani Challenge 2014.

This year, Bayani Challenge 2015 takes us to ~210 municipalities across ~55 barangays, bringing bayanihan and walang iwanan to the barangay level.
